Two comments from the Creative Minds Minds Conference on Monday 10th March at Brighton Dome, both written on the Post-It boards:

  1. Oska Bright Films should be on TV – come on Carousel, make this happen!
  2. Oska Bright films should be screened in mainstream cinema’s just before the feature film. Why hasn’t this happened yet?

  1. Yes and No!
Yes because – To get a wider audience and to represent people with a learning disability. We hope to get some films shown on channel 8 this year… We think that the representation of people with learning disabilities on TV is really negative.

No because – We need to respect the filmmakers and ask their permission. Seeing the films on a big screen with other people has a big effect. Sometimes TV doesn’t do that.

We think that Oska Bright films should be shown before feature films in the Cinema. We are working on this as part of our tour this year. Nottingham Broadway Cinema is interested and Cornwall Film Festival too.
It’s difficulty – it’s all about money! The advertisers pay for those slots and Cinemas find it hard to turn that money down.
