The Creative Minds South East committee are confused!

Why is the work of learning disabled artists nearly always seen as part of an arts venue or galleries education programme,  outreach or community work or even more annoyingly – arts therapy?

Any ideas? Thompson Hall from Action Space and Sarah Watson from Oska Bright explain a bit more during their InPractice talk at The Royal Academy of Arts in London. Come to Creative Minds Bristol on 14th October to see more, including a call to start a revolution!

  1. I think that it is so important to raise an awareness of just how professional work from learning disabled artists can be. It should not be at all based on the background of the people who created it, but on the quality of the outcome. It also warrants honest debate and critique so as not to become patronised upon by others, but credit must be given as required, just as one expects in other environments. I am so glad that these workshops are happening, and I believe that we can succeed in raising this very important issue within the arts industry and out to the general public.
