I really found this exhibition very interesting in way that it talks about the asylum and it’s history in relation to people’s attitudes towards mental health in today’s modern society. This has become a very taboo subject to discuss out in public, whether it would be mentioned in the media or written about in the press. People do find it hard to understand what it is like for patients from institutions like hospitals and asylums etc. Which leads on to the so called ‘care in the community’ programme which I think is failing to help these patients to live fairly normal lives once released from hospital. I think the exhibition is focusing for people to come and see what mental health does to ordinary people that are diagnosed with having mental health issues that they have to live with everyday. So come and see the exhibition, it’s a real eye opener.
