Gavin Stride is the Director of Farnham Maltings. He has been talking to us this week about measuring quality in learning disability arts.
“The other observation I would make is that, sometimes, it would be good to not speak of the work as disabled art. I have a real affection for integrated casting, for making sure our work reflects the world. Our most recent production for village halls – which has toured nationally twice including the islands of Scotland – had a central character, and actor, who is on the autistic spectrum. But the show wasn’t about autism it was about leaving home and the lies we accept as truths.”
